About The Role

We are now recruiting for Director of Legal, Risk and Financial Regulation to join our Board of Directors. The role is based in our Hereford Office.

Reporting to the Managing Director/Owner, in this role you will be accountable for all legislative and regulatory compliance. You will be taking the lead on achieving an appropriate risk management approach, appetite and culture across the business.

In addition to Board Requirements, as Director of Legal, Risk and Financial Regulation you will be expected to add value in areas including Legal and Contracts, Compliance Standards, Regulatory and Information Security, and Leadership and Management.

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Ensuring appropriate measure, controls, cultural initiatives, policies, procedures, processes and management systems exist to support the business strategy and are followed across all areas of the business;
  • To ensure that effective review, monitoring and reporting systems are in place to provide assurance and confidence to the Board that the business is meeting all of its legal and regulatory obligations;
  • Providing legal advice on best practices, having input on business decisions, contract negotiations and legal strategies for litigation and other business critical activities;
  • Acting as Legal Counsel to the Board and being able to wear multiple hats as required. Taking a side-step when providing counsel while taking an active and considered role as a Director;
  • Responsible for ensuring we meet the required standards and maintaining accreditations across the business, ensuring all mandatory legal and regulatory requirements are met or exceeded;
  • Undertaking a highly visible role, being hands on as necessary, and holding a strong line on all crucial requirements that safeguard the business, dictating an appropriate regulatory and legal culture as appropriate.

About You

Educated to degree level and/or relevant professional certification/accreditation or equivalent.

Evidence of up-to-date knowledge of legal & regulatory compliance, particularly within financial and/or payment services sectors.

Strong background, knowledge and experience commensurate with this role.

Senior leadership experience in relevant and aligned environments and businesses.

Experience of and comfort at working with Board level peers.

Being acceptable to the Regulator as a 'fit and proper' person to be approved as an EMD (E-money Directive) Approved Person
