About The Role

We have a new and and exciting opportunity for a Head of Legal to join allpay to take ownership for the delivery of legal services, and to provide leadership to the Legal and Contracts Teams.

The role is based in our Hereford Head Office, and there is an opportunity for a hybrid working.

You will join friendly, professional, and dedicated teams, who pride themselves on delivering expert advice and the highest standards of customer service.

Reporting to Director of Compliance and Regulation, as Head of Legal you will provide leadership and develop your teams, always ensuring that a sound, timely and appropriate legal advice to the business is available, including on commercial, regulatory and employment matters, accessing external support as required.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and managing the department’s legal workflow activity, prioritising work in accordance with level of importance and available resource.

  • Coordinating and executing a broad range of GDPR matters, including contract reviews, client liaison and policy updates.

  • Undertaking legal research on various points of law using legal databases and other resources, reviewing relevant statute and case law, and providing information and reports when required.

  • Responsible for the legal department’s board submission.

  • Assisting the tender process and providing legal advice regarding the bid submission.

  • Advising on other areas of law such as employment and regulatory law, including assisting with internal investigations, disciplinary and grievances where required.

About You

As our ideal Head of Legal, you will be a qualified Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive with evidenced background in working with commercial contracts.

You will have an expert knowledge of handling matters in areas including but not limited to contract, commercial and intellectual property. Experience in dealing with employment and data protection matters will be an advantage.

You will have a solid track record of providing proactive, expert, timely and authoritative legal advice.

You will have strong commercial understanding and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will be able to build relationships and influence colleagues and external contacts at all levels, including senior colleagues and board members.

Most importantly, you will be passionate about leading your teams, providing coaching and mentoring, and encouraging your teams to learn and grow.
